Last Stand
Brewing

Crafting an authentic brand that connects with both the hippies and the cowboys of Central Texas

Crafting Stories, Brewing Identity

This was my first big project—where I fell head over heels for visual identity crafting. I collaborated with one other designer on this full rebrand of a local Austin brewery, overhauling their logo, color palette, packaging, apparel, website, and even dabbling in some interior design. Through close collaboration with the client, I discovered how deeply I love to connect with people and create design that truly represents and excites the faces behind the brand.

The biggest challenge: transforming a rough, masculine brand into something that attracts savvy Austinites while staying true to its authentic rough-and-tumble Texas roots. This project didn’t just transform the brand—it showed me how much I thrive on layered creative challenges that blend strategy, craft, and authentic storytelling.

Keeping the Soul, Raising the Bar

Staying true to Last Stand’s Texas heritage was key—the brewer-owner duo were worried that anything too slick would alienate their good-old-boy regulars. Western-influenced typography and an earthy Hill Country inspired color palette grounded the brand in the familiar, authentic, DIY spirit their audience already knew and loved. Hand-drawn illustrations and thoughtfully crafted copy gave the brand a fresh voice—one that spoke directly to Austin’s new wave of craft-curious locals.

Bringing the Brand to Life

From packaging to apparel, we turned the brand into something customers could hold, wear, and connect with. These physical touchpoints helped the brewery show up in new spaces—on shelves, in taprooms, and out in the city—sparking fresh interest and expanding their reach. The name of the brewery reflects the founders’ backstory—they made a “Last Stand” by quitting their tech jobs and making their shared passion a real business. This project really solidified for me that design goes far beyond just aesthetics—it’s a powerful tool that tells real stories and empowers people to go out and make their dream a reality.

Deep In The Heart

Design That Opens Doors

To illustrate what a special edition beer could look like, I designed a one-off “Texas Forever” can—initially just a concept. The client loved it so much, they brewed a beer to match the design. That moment of trust was pivotal, leading to opportunities for me to create distinct identities for other parts of their business, including a secret members-only club and a successful loyalty program. I learned that my knack for deeply understanding people and their passions helps me anticipate client needs, uncover new opportunities, and deliver designs that drive growth.
